Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Laying of the Cornerstone

On Sunday May 25, 2003 we celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Laying of the Cornerstone of our beautiful church.  A Family Eucharist was held followed by an outdoor service using the original Order of Service for the Laying of the Cornerstone used May 25, 1903. To mark the occasion, we buried a Centennial Time Capsule. (see contents listed below)

After the celebration service, most of the people in attendance proceeded to the Parish Hall for a Soup & Bun lunch which was put on by St. Mary's Refugee Committee. We enjoyed a variety of homemade soups, fresh buns, tea and coffee - all for only $3. Following lunch we were entertained in the church with an organ recital by Professor David Palmer and the combined choirs of St. Mary's and All Saints' Churches with Wayne Cornwall at the piano.

A Celebration Cake was served in the Parish Hall after the recital.
